I recently watched a REACT video from The Fine Bros on Youtube (watch below) and I was instantly reminded of the days when I was fangirling over Hanson and The Moffatts! LMAO.. so I was kinda expecting to hear them play one of their songs but nah they chose other early 90s songs…

Reaction: Awlurrrhd, I thought this was from the 80s!!!
#1 – I didn’t know the band but #2 I do remember some of the lyrics (the repetitive one until “no one’s gonna drag you up… nananananana”) haha..

and theyre like really old

Reaction: Back in the 90s, I was not a fan of the “Rock” genre at all. I just consider rock songs very hard to understand. Somehow I was always under the impression that rock singers have a lot of anguish in them and I just didn’t want the negativity.. Of course, I think differently now and I can appreciate some rock songs already but back in the day… I would have said the same thing as this young lady right here…

i dont like rock it was boring

Reaction: Ohhh this sounds so familiar but I just can’t name the song and Green Day was at the tip of my tongue. FYI, I never knew “Basket Case” is the title of the song until now. I’m so bad at remembering song titles and names in general but I am good at remembering the tunes or some of the lyrics hehe 😀

greenday duh

Reaction: Again, the tune and lyrics are familiar but I can’t name the song and the singer pffft. Lol-ed at myself when I thought of “Iced Tea” when I heard this gal’s comment. heesh

something with ice cube in it

Reaction: Eto na nga.. kanta ng mga nag-e-emote ng kapanahunan ko ahahahaa with one hand in the air and the other on temple of the head habang kinakanta.

thats a very depressing 16 weeks

Reaction: Okay okaaaay! I admit, I thought the title of this song is Thumbthumping.. I was wrong all along! LMAO I hear it often when UMD/ Manoeuvres/Streetboys (not sure alin sa kanila but it has to be one of them) are dancing to this song on TV. We used to dance to this song at school, too. Chumbawamba?

whaaaat

Reaction: Oh yaaaaasssss! from the boy band of the 90s haha! It took just a few seconds before I sing na rin – Tell me whyyyy, ain’t nothing but a heartache… I heart this song. Classic 90s song!

i hear my mum humming it sometimes

… and suddenly I feel old. Just like that! lol

I wish they picked other hit songs like 2 become 1 by Spice Girls, Mmmbop by Hanson or If life is so short by The Moffatts and throw in maybe an Aaron carter song in there (kiddin’).. bwahaha! Britney Spears 🙂 I’ve always liked pop music. Some say baduy — yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah I don’t care basta they’re so catchy. I also remember renting/borrowing/buying song hits (thin book of songs with lyrics and chords) so I can memorize the lyrics of the songs I like on a lazy afternoon at home. Ahh the 90s! 🙂

When I think of the 90s, I have the following songs in mind:

  • MMMBop – Hanson
  • If life is so short – The Moffatts
  • Wannabe – Spice Girls
  • You Get What You Give – New Radicals
  • Every Morning – Sugar Ray
  • Kiss Me – Sixpence None The Richer
  • Don’t Speak – No Doubt
  • I Knew I Loved You – Savage Garden
  • No Scrubs – TLC
  • You Make Me Wanna – Usher
  • I’ll Make Love To You – Boyz II Men
  • Nothing Compares 2U – Sinéad O Connor
  • Say What You Want – Texas
  • Together Again – Janet Jackson
  • Always – Erasure
  • Stay The Same – Joey McIntyre
  • Sometimes – Britney Spears
  • Genie in a bottle – Christina Aguilera
  • Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) – Backstreet Boys
  • If I Let You Go – Westlife
  • I Want You Back – NSYNC
  • 5, 6, 7, 8 – Steps

Well, I created a playlist for this, feel free to listen to it and let me know what 90s songs you have in mind in the comment section below so I can add it to the Playlist (make sure it’s from the 90s – I’ll Google it before I add).

💭 Let me know your thoughts...
